How do I build a study?

Click New study, then start from a template, generate a study, or start from scratch. All three routes create an editable draft.

Choose a template when a ready-made study is close to the research you want to run. Preview the plan and blocks, name the study, then click Create study.

The new study is your own copy. Change its questions, options, order, and assets without changing the template it came from.

Choose the generate route and describe your research goal. Include what you want to learn, who you want to hear from, and any prototype or asset you plan to test.

Fiuto drafts a plan and blocks for you. Generation uses AI credits. Review the output before you launch, especially any example text or placeholder assets.

On Free, if your goal calls for card sort, tree test, or matrix, Fiuto builds the study with blocks Free can use instead of stopping generation. Upgrade to Core or Pro to generate those methods directly.

Generation locks the study while it runs so a second attempt in another tab cannot collide with it. If you see a message that the study is already being built in another tab, wait for the first attempt to finish, then try again. An attempt that was abandoned, for example by closing the tab, clears on its own after about 15 minutes, so a retry after that wait always starts fresh.

A generation that fails leaves behind an empty draft with no blocks. The Studies list marks it Failed instead of Draft, so it stays easy to find and clear out. Open the study’s menu and select Delete to remove it, then start a new one.

Choose Start from scratch, name the study, and create it. A blank study opens on Plan. Write the outline you want to follow, then move to Build and add the blocks respondents will see.

You can also skip detailed planning and work directly in Build once you know what to add.

Fiuto has 18 block types. Click Add block where you want a new item, then choose a type from the block picker.

Use the controls on a block to edit its content, drag it into a new position, duplicate it, or delete it. Deleting a block removes it from the draft after confirmation and cannot be undone.

Card sort, tree test, and matrix are advanced research methods available on Core and Pro. The remaining blocks are available on Free. See Choose a study block for the complete catalog.

Replace placeholder images, prototype URLs, website URLs, and example copy before previewing. The editor marks required fields that still need attention.
