When should I use ranking?
Ranking gives people a list of items and asks them to drag them into the order they prefer. It fits questions where the relative position matters more than a score, like “Rank these features from most to least important”.
When to reach for it
Section titled “When to reach for it”Ranking fits when forcing a choice helps. A Rating scale lets people give everything a top score, while ranking makes them commit to what comes first. It does get harder as the list grows, so keep it to around five items. When you only want to know which of two or three options people prefer, the Preference test usually fits better.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”Results show the average position of each item across everyone who answered, so you can read off the order people settled on.
