When should I use a matrix?
Matrix asks people to rate several statements on the same scale in one grid. The statements run down the side and the scale runs across the top, and people give one rating per row, as with “How much do you agree with each statement?”.
Matrix is an advanced research method, available on Core and Pro.
When to reach for it
Section titled “When to reach for it”Reach for a matrix when your statements share a topic and a scale, so people can answer them together. It is faster than asking the same Rating scale question over and over, and it lines up the answers so you can compare across rows. When the questions are unrelated, separate rating blocks read better.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”Keep the list of statements short, around six or fewer. A long grid invites people to pick the same column for every row without reading, which gives you answers you cannot trust.
Results show the score spread for each statement, so you can see which ones people agreed with most and least.
